Assessment of the National HIV/AIDS Sector Response 2008

Satisfactory progress

Bi-annual a joint review is undertaken of the HIV/AIDS sector's progress, constraints and future priorities. This process is led by TACAIDS, Tanzania Commission for AIDS, in close collaboration of other parts of government, development partners, other HIV/AIDS sector stakeholders and civil society.

The Main Review attracted over 180 participants which during two days shared and discussed the development, challenges and possible steps forward for a scaled up and improved national response. Proposed milestones - actions, activities, policies, strategies - to be implemented during the next 2 years to come were thoroughly discussed. Milestones will during November be further revised by the Technical Working Committees and be presented to the Joint Technical Working Group before 11th of December 2008, for final agreement.

A report from the Main Review will be available during December.

The main review was preceded by a Technical Review, conducted 28-29 of October 2008, which went through the important reports and strategies to highlight issues and options to be tabled in the main review meeting.
